A breathtaking contempt is at the root of the protracted meltdown of the NHS. As Tory Steve Dorrell leaves the House of Common Fuck, he laments the vile health and social care bill, despite voting for it: “Asked if he regards the Health and Social Care Act of 2012, driven through the Commons by Andrew Lansley in the face of furious opposition from the health sector, as the biggest mistake of this parliament he is in no doubt at all. “Yes I do agree with that. The reason I agree with it is partly for the political fallout, but the thing I care most about is the lost opportunity in the health and care system. In a dig at the cocknugget Lansley, he says politicians these days don’t think through their ideas and head off instead in search of headlines.” The greedy bastards could also see bank notes, they were too short sighted to see destruction of the national asset. A central and wholly anticipated effect of the closures of hospitals in West London has been remaining hospitals buckling under the enormous pressure. Just as so called experts were repeatedly warned each closure was beyond stupid, but they were arrogant, they did not give a flying fuck at the misery they were inflicting on decent ordinary people. Medical professionals, the kind of people the government never listen to, are calling for a suspension of the programme of shutting A&Es and maternity units in West London under the ludicrously named Shaping a Healthier Future scheme (London Evening Standard, 29-01-15).
A less reported side of the protracted NHS meltdown, is the meltdown of Mental Health in the NHS, which has been in crisis for even longer. While they smile and say electoral soundbites, Tories are like Nazis, these spiteful bullies always target the most vulnerable, and like Nazis they are also guaranteed to overplay a strong hand. With their privilege and their born to rule arrogance these cruel bastards are overlooking basic strategy in their ideological surge for a smaller state with socialism for the mega rich and rampant jungle capitalism for everyone else. With the mental health crisis for example, there is only a short time before there are now acts of desperation, when people with mental health problems untreated and sanctions turns into something explosive. Its not without reason that the super rich are now terrified of the villagers with pitchforks. The mental health department of the NHS has not been treated with any parity to the general NHS, its in a bad state now. Its been building up for some time, its gradually deteriorated, so we now have teenagers being held in police custody as there are no mental health beds available. As the President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Simon Wessely puts it “There is mounting evidence – such as the doubling of the number of patients having to be sent out of the area for care between 2011/12 and 2013/14 – that there are simply not enough mental health beds available in some areas. “This is a system at breaking point, and patients are being put at serious risk as a result.” But hey – this is an expert, any self respecting Tory nob will stuff their fingers in their ears and shout ‘la la la, I can’t hear you’. Labour like to say they are committed to mental health, and yet they are unwilling to stop benefit sanctions.
The disaster which is bastard Chris Grayling’s ‘transforming rehabilitation’ program, is very likely to combine with the sanctions regime, the mental health meltdown and the police crisis to create a bloody domino. Its going to be the trigger for the house of cards to collapse, if the NHS collapses it will expose the social care crisis. For now we have the shitty broken system, whereby decent people are told to give the elderly care in fifteen minute allotments, so they can now go in people’s homes and say “do you want a shit or a cup of tea, you can’t have both because super rich bastards want all the money, oh by the way, this is what you fought World War II for”. Its a salient question of our troubled times. The reckless privatisation of our probation service will considerably endanger the public.
When the people unite their power on the media they suddenly becomes very strong. The power of people has been demonstrated by the residents of Derby Road Southampton. They were being filmed by Channel 4 who were doing a spin off of Benefits Street called Immigration Street, and although they are still filming a smaller amount its not over yet. Watch this space to see them fuck right off.
Further afield, the vote of Syriza looks like it could start an explosion which breaks austerity, its shocked the Establishment that out of Europe there can be democracy. The hypocrisy of the Germans on this issue is breathtaking. Its lead to the fuckwit Osbourne to say this bollocks: “I urge the Greek finance minister to act responsibly but it’s also important that the eurozone has a better plan for jobs and growth. It is a rising threat to the British economy. And we have got to make sure that in Europe as in Britain, we choose competence over chaos.” A comparison of Greece to Iceland is extremely useful. Varoufakis is spooking the money men, and its fun to watch.
The Greeks shot the starting gun of the European revolution, and his gross stupidity the bastard Chris Grayling has added a powerful catalyst to the potent brew of benefit sanctions, PIP disaster and crisis in care. Unwittingly, in his ineptitude and avarice masked with sanctimony and a bloody minded determination that money trumps everything, Grayling has created the setting for the British revolution.
I was on the march for affordable housing, it was cold, bloody cold, but the spirit of solidarity is now strong among the marchers. Well done all of you that were there too, its great to be thousands of like minded people, to feel you are no longer struggling alone. Maybe there were 5000 people there, I am useless at approximating.
